Like her sister ship, the Azamara Journey is a mid-sized beauty with a deck plan well-suited to the needs of modern voyagers. In addition to going to the most celebrated destinations on Earth, youll also go to less-traveled ports, enjoy scenic rivers and waterways that are off-limits to big cruise lines, and sail to the doorstep of great cities like Seville, Hong Kong, and Bordeaux.
You'll never feel crowded in the comfortable social spaces of her bars, restaurants, and lounges. Youll love the genial club-like atmosphere and the way the attentive staff and crew get to know you. And youll feel the same friendliness with your fellow voyagers.
Staterooms feature modern amenities, furnishings, and European linens. And one of the greatest features of this ship is the large number of staterooms with verandas. There's nothing better than opening your door to the fresh sea air and views.
Azamara's friendly ships are an altogether wonderful place to call your home away from home!

Exclusive Shore Event: Lisbon | Highlights of Obidos with Festive Lunch
Portugal's capital is nestled on the right bank of the Tagus River, just seven miles inland from the Atlantic's swells. Like the ancient city of Rome, this metropolis is ideally set on seven arching hills. Modern Lisbon is an intriguing cacophony of architectural styles, from medieval Moorish palaces to Renaissance monasteries to 20th-century Art Nouveau apartments.
We will depart by deluxe air-conditioned motor-coach and drive west, entering a rural region and leaving the urban society behind. Our first stop is at the walled village of bidos, which is considered by many as a true museum. This village, one of the best well-preserved medieval towns of Portugal, was the wedding gift of our kings to their queens. Its clean narrow streets and carefully whitewashed houses decorated with flowerbeds show the female touch left by our queens. After a walking tour accompanied by our guide, you can take the opportunity to enjoy the local traditional drink "Ginginha" in one of the many cafes and bars. This is cherry liquor tasted in a small cup of chocolate (one of the particularities of this traditional local drink).
After the visit of this unique medieval village, we will drive to Quinta do Sanguinhal Wine Estate where we will enjoy wine tasting followed by lunch.
Quinta do Sanguinhal is located on plateau and gentle slopes of clay and sandy soil. One of the company's old distilleries is set up here, as well as the cellars with wooden barrels where are aged the brandies and fortified wines. The property also holds an ancient pressing-room with six stone and wood manual wine presses, the oldest of which dates from 1871. The Quinta do Sanguinhal has been in the same family for a few generations and now that the wine evolved from just a mere drink to a gourmet and quality product. By combining the traditional producing methods with modern science the Quinta do Sanguinhal has found the key to success. In their old manor house the rooms are full of stories to tell: from the old pressers to the old distillers everything is history and tradition. The owners will come along with us to show us around the property and to introduce us to their wines at the end in a carefully prepared wine tasting, followed by a traditional lunch.
After lunch, we'll drive back to Lisbon and visit the neighborhood of Belém, which is linked to the Portuguese glorious period of the Maritime Discoveries. Part of the wealth from the maritime expeditions was used to build magnificent monuments in a unique Portuguese style. The extravagant Manueline architectural style is best typified in the Jernimos Monastery and the Tower of Belém, both classified as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. If time allows, we will also drive through the city center, passing by the main historical squares and avenues, before returning back to the ship.
Approximate Length: Seven hours.
Suggested Attire/Walking Notes: Casual wear with comfortable walking shoes. Moderate walking with cobblestone streets and uneven surfaces.
