Azamara Pursuit

A luxury boutique hotel at sea

Like her sister ships, the Azamara Pursuit is a mid-sized beauty with a deck plan well-suited to the needs of modern voyagers. Its intimate size allows itineraries to unique, smaller ports in regions around the world that larger ships are unable to reach.

On an Azamara ship, you'll sail to the city center of Bordeaux, the heart of Seville, and within a short walk to Hong Kongs buzzing nightlife and Shanghais famous Bund. You'll sail to the doorstep of Bangkok, while other large cruise lines dock a few hours away.

With a capacity of 690 guests, you'll never feel crowded in the comfortable social spaces of her bars, restaurants, and lounges. Youll love the genial club-like atmosphere and the way the attentive staff and crew get to know you. And youll feel the same friendliness with your fellow voyagers.

Staterooms feature modern amenities, furnishings, and European linens. And one of the greatest features of this ship is the large number of staterooms with verandas. There's nothing better than opening your door to the fresh sea air and views.

Azamara's friendly ships are an altogether wonderful place to call your home away from home!

Exclusive Shore Event: Valletta | Museums, Mdina, and Maltese Hospitality

Our day of discovery on this Mediterranean crossroads begins with a drive from Valletta to the The Wignacourt Collegiate Museum in Rabat, a baroque residence of the Chaplains of the Knights of Malta. The museum has a fine picture gallery with Maltese as well as European artists, plus sculptures, maps, rare books, and other interesting artifacts. Of particular interest is the subterranean level with its labyrinth of Punic, Roman, and Christian hypogea, as well as World War II shelters.

We'll next make our way to the medieval fortified city of Mdina, the capital of Malta until the 16th century and a superb example of a typical medieval town. We'll enter the city through the main gate, and visit the magnificent cathedral dedicated to St. Paul, who was shipwrecked in Malta in 60 A.D.

We'll then proceed to the picturesque village of Attard, to the private townhouse of John and Pippa Mattei, a leading chef, food writer, and teacher. We'll relax in the garden (weather permitting), and our hosts will prepare a typical Maltese/Mediterranean lunch using local and seasonal ingredients, which we will enjoy with top Maltese wines. We'll conclude with a taste of Pippa's homemade mandarin or lemon liqueur, before heading back to the ship.

Approximate Length: 6 hours, 30 minutes

Suggested Attire/Walking Notes: Smart casual wear with a sun hat and comfortable shoes. Women are not permitted to enter Malta's churches in sleeveless shirts. Moderate walking on cobblestone streets and uneven surfaces.

PLEASE NOTE: All Virtuoso events ashore are capacity controlled and require a minimum number of participants to operate. Events are subject to change without notice. These events are individually tailored for each date and arrival. Your event could be different than whats noted here; but it will be designed to be memorable and to bring you a travelers view that you will treasure, and would otherwise miss entirely. Final details will be outlined in program letters provided by your Virtuoso host aboard ship.
