Like her sister ship, the Azamara Journey is a mid-sized beauty with a deck plan well-suited to the needs of modern voyagers. In addition to going to the most celebrated destinations on Earth, youll also go to less-traveled ports, enjoy scenic rivers and waterways that are off-limits to big cruise lines, and sail to the doorstep of great cities like Seville, Hong Kong, and Bordeaux.
You'll never feel crowded in the comfortable social spaces of her bars, restaurants, and lounges. Youll love the genial club-like atmosphere and the way the attentive staff and crew get to know you. And youll feel the same friendliness with your fellow voyagers.
Staterooms feature modern amenities, furnishings, and European linens. And one of the greatest features of this ship is the large number of staterooms with verandas. There's nothing better than opening your door to the fresh sea air and views.
Azamara's friendly ships are an altogether wonderful place to call your home away from home!

Exclusive Shore Event: Marseille | MuCem Museum, Marseille Sights and Lunch
Our day in the beautiful city of Marseille begins on the dock, where we will meet our local guide for a visit to the famous MuCEM Museum and a panoramic tour of the city. Marseille is the second largest city in France, and the capital of the Bouches-du-Rhône region. The city is one of the most multicultural places in Europe, being a major center for immigrant communities from former French colonies such as Algeria. Marseille held the title of European Capital of Culture along with Koice, Slovakia, in 2013.
Our first destination is the MuCEM museum, also known as the Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilizations. With a permanent collection of artifacts from past European societies, we will discover and experience the continent's vast history. The architecture of the museum itself is a site to behold, designed by architect Rudy Ricciotti in collaboration with Roland Carta. The main structure is a cube of 15,000 square meters, surrounded by a shell of fiber-reinforced concrete. Marvel at the intricate design, and walk the 430-ft. footbridge that connects the museum exhibits.
After our spectacular visit to MuCEM, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Marseille. Being a center of many cultures, the cuisine in Marseille mixes African fare into traditional French dishes.
After lunch, we will have the opportunity to view the city from our luxurious private coach. The city has existed since 600 BC as an ancient Greek colony, and was a significant metropolis of the Roman Empire. The history is made apparent by varying architectural styles, as well as sites that date back hundreds of years. In addition to seeing Marseille's main sites, we will stop for an amazing view of the picturesque bay before returning to the ship.
Approximate Length: Six hours, 30 minutes
Suggested Attire: Smart casual wear recommended. There will be moderate walking through the MuCEM museum and on a brief walking tour on paved and gently sloped surfaces.
