Like her sister ship, the Azamara Journey is a mid-sized beauty with a deck plan well-suited to the needs of modern voyagers. In addition to going to the most celebrated destinations on Earth, youll also go to less-traveled ports, enjoy scenic rivers and waterways that are off-limits to big cruise lines, and sail to the doorstep of great cities like Seville, Hong Kong, and Bordeaux.
You'll never feel crowded in the comfortable social spaces of her bars, restaurants, and lounges. Youll love the genial club-like atmosphere and the way the attentive staff and crew get to know you. And youll feel the same friendliness with your fellow voyagers.
Staterooms feature modern amenities, furnishings, and European linens. And one of the greatest features of this ship is the large number of staterooms with verandas. There's nothing better than opening your door to the fresh sea air and views.
Azamara's friendly ships are an altogether wonderful place to call your home away from home!

Exclusive Shore Event: Colombo | Highlights of Colombo with a Festive Lunch
Like many capital cities in developing countries, Colombo is fast changing its look. Skyscrapers have risen almost overnight from where old buildings once stood. Yet in many parts, the Old World charm is still retained. There is the 100-year-old Clock Tower and several British built, colonial buildings which are in stark contrast to the Pettah Bazaar, a local bustling market place.
Today, our first stop is at the National Museum, housed in a grand colonial building, it is the custodian of Sri Lanka's cultural heritage. Among its exhibits are a vast collection of books, more than 4,000 archaic palm leaf manuscripts, rock sculptures from the ancient cities, royal weapons of Sri Lankan kings and an excellent collection of antique demon masks.
We continue onto Gangarama Temple. Built in the 1800s, this is one of the most important places of Buddhist learning and worship in Colombo. Packed with worshipers, tourists, clouds of incense, chanting, elephants (alive and stuffed), the temple complex has a library, a museum and an extraordinarily eclectic array of bejeweled and gilded gifts presented by devotees and well-wishers over the years.
The Dutch Hospital is a restored colonial-era complex which dates back to the 1600s and is now the new pulse of the Fort. This complex is now home to boutique shops, restaurants and bars - a place to relax or partake in some retail therapy. Our guide will give a brief introduction to the fort area before you have some time to explore independently.
Our final stop will be a wonderful luncheon served at the Kingsbury Hotel. As its name suggests, is an ode to the golden age of grace and elegance, going back to an era when royalty was revered and celebrated at The Kingsbury. From its signature restaurant 'Ocean', sit back and enjoy some of the best seafood in the city with uninterrupted views of the Indian Ocean. A traditional Sri Lankan Calypso trio will be playing in the background whilst you are savoring your meal before we head back to the ship.
Approximate Length: Five hours, 30 minutes
Suggested Attire: Proper attire is required to visit the sacred sites. Shorts and short skirts are not allowed. Women should have their shoulders & knees covered. Shoes and hats will have to be removed prior to entering the temples. Moderate walking with some steps.
PLEASE NOTE: All Virtuoso events ashore are capacity controlled and require a minimum number of participants to operate. Events are subject to change without notice. These events are individually tailored for each date and arrival. Your event could be different than whats noted here; but it will be designed to be memorable and to bring you a travelers view that you will treasure, and would otherwise miss entirely. Final details will be outlined in program letters provided by your Virtuoso host aboard ship.
