Like her sister ship, the Azamara Journey is a mid-sized beauty with a deck plan well-suited to the needs of modern voyagers. In addition to going to the most celebrated destinations on Earth, youll also go to less-traveled ports, enjoy scenic rivers and waterways that are off-limits to big cruise lines, and sail to the doorstep of great cities like Seville, Hong Kong, and Bordeaux.
You'll never feel crowded in the comfortable social spaces of her bars, restaurants, and lounges. Youll love the genial club-like atmosphere and the way the attentive staff and crew get to know you. And youll feel the same friendliness with your fellow voyagers.
Staterooms feature modern amenities, furnishings, and European linens. And one of the greatest features of this ship is the large number of staterooms with verandas. There's nothing better than opening your door to the fresh sea air and views.
Azamara's friendly ships are an altogether wonderful place to call your home away from home!

Exclusive Shore Event: Amsterdam | Van Gogh Museum, Windmills and Lunch
We begin our day discovering the charming city of Amsterdam. Besides the rich history of Amsterdam, we will learn about the life of the famous Dutch painter Van Gogh with a guided tour of the Van Gogh museum. This museum is dedicated to the works of Van Gogh and his contemporaries and has the largest collection of his paintings and drawings in the world.
After our visit we will re-board our coach and leave the Museum Square for a short drive north through the Dutch countryside where we will find the windmill village of the Zaanse Schans. The Zaanse Schans is a fully inhabited, open-air conservation area and museum located 9 miles north of Amsterdam. Original buildings vividly depict Dutch life in the 17th and 18th centuries. We will admire the authentic houses, the historic shipyard, the clog-making demonstrations and above all, the windmills. We will be welcomed by a local inhabitant of the village, dressed in traditional costume who will invite us into her home for some refreshments while we will learn more about the history and life in this windmill village.
We will then make our way to where a delicious lunch awaits us. Our lunch will include Dutch specialties complimented by wine and beer at the Restaurant De Hoop op d'Swarte Walvis. This historic restaurant's ambiance reflects the days of the past whale hunting days and is located on the banks of the river Zaan at the Zaanse Schans.
Following lunch, we will make a special visit to the saw windmill "Het Jonge Schaap",a hexagonal sawmill with a rotating cap. Its shape was unique among the 350 sawmills that were spread across the Zaan region in its day. It was built in 1680 in the Westzijderveld area in Zaandam where it was active until its demolition in 1942. In 2007 the windmill was reconstructed and is now once again in use as a sawmill. As it depends on the sale of wood, it is used whenever the wind blows. You will not only see what goes on inside a sawmill, but also view a video and be welcomed by the miller before we return to the pier.
Approximate Length: Seven hours.
Suggested Attire: Casual wear with comfortable shoes. Light to moderate walking.
